Milan, the Italian capital of design, will host one of the most intriguing cultural events of the season. On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 7 p.m., the book “The Idea of Sculpture. From the Hand to the Robot” will be presented at Casa Caccia Dominioni (Piazza Sant’Ambrogio 16).

This special evening marks the Milan debut of a project that began in Venice and explores the evolving relationship between art, robotics, and artificial intelligence. The presentation will feature curators Roberta Semeraro and Giovanna Cicutto, and will be hosted by architect and curator Maurizio De Caro, who is launching his new concept gallery — the Daily Art Gallery — inside his architectural studio.

A dialogue between craftsmanship and technology

The Idea of Sculpture. From the Hand to the Robot - book

Published by Maretti Editore, “The Idea of Sculpture. From the Hand to the Robot” reflects on how digital tools and robotic techniques are transforming sculpture without erasing its human essence.

At the center of the discussion is the Cuban-born, U.S.-based artist Helena Bacardi, whose marble and bronze works were created partly in Carrara’s robotic laboratories and Madrid’s foundries.

Her approach builds a bridge between Renaissance mastery and contemporary experimentation — where the artist’s “hand” and the machine’s “precision” coexist in creative harmony.

“The idea is the origin,” says Bacardi. “The hand interprets it according to artistic sensitivity — just as technology does not create the idea, but helps to express it.”

The event will take place in a space that perfectly embodies the Milanese spirit — Casa Caccia Dominioni, an iconic building where architecture, design, and art intersect. On this occasion, Maurizio De Caro inaugurates the Daily Art Gallery, a project that transforms his studio into an exhibition space where every show will open and close in a single day, creating an atmosphere of intimate, ephemeral creativity.

For this first edition, a selection of works by Helena Bacardi will be on display, offering guests a rare opportunity to see how technology can become a tool for artistic reflection.
