About

Ciao, I’m Barbara.

Part of my family lives in Milan, and that’s how this city became part of my life. I’ve lived in Italy since 2005, in Tuscany, and every trip north means time with them and a few more hours exploring Milan, beyond the usual sights.

Milan.Tips is where I share what I find: an independent guide for English-speaking visitors, written and edited by me. As editor-in-chief, I’m responsible for everything published here.

Why trust a guide like this?

I studied Journalism at Faculdade Cásper Líbero in Brazil, ran a travel agency in Italy, and trained as a Web Programming Technician at Istituto IDI in Florence. I’ve been writing about travel online for more than 25 years. You’ll find more about my work at barbarabueno.com and on my author page.

What I write about

Milan moves fast, so most of the site follows what’s on: concerts and shows, exhibitions, football at San Siro and the city’s big sporting dates. Around that, there are practical guides on museums, where to stay, and how to get around by metro, tram, and train.

How articles are made

A lot of what you read here began as a question. Friends, readers, and travelers ask me things like how to get to a concert, which ticket to buy, or which museum is worth it, and the answer becomes an article.

I’d rather cover fewer things well than everything badly, so I pick the events I think deserve your evening. Dates, prices, and opening hours come from the source: the venue, the organizer, the museum, the transport company. Plans change, though, so if something on the site is out of date, tell me and I’ll fix it.

A note on affiliate links

Some links here are affiliate links. If you book through one, I may earn a small commission, and the price you pay stays the same. No partner gets to decide what I recommend.
