One of Milan’s most sought-after attractions is undoubtedly the “Cenacolo Vinciano,” the site of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous masterpiece, The Last Supper. Learn how to secure your tickets and discover interesting facts about this masterpiece.

Tickets for The Last Supper in Milan

Purchasing tickets for The Last Supper through the official authorized vendor can be quite challenging. Due to the limited number of daily visitors, tickets often sell out almost instantly during peak season.

When purchasing tickets, you must provide the full name of all visitors. Tickets bought through the official vendor have a non-refundable cancellation policy and do not allow changes.

IMPORTANT: As of May 1, 2025, it is no longer possible to change the names on tickets!

Two more rules worth knowing before you book: you can buy a maximum of 5 tickets per calendar year, and you must collect your ticket at the box office next to the entrance, showing your payment receipt, at least 30 minutes before your time slot. Arrive later than that and you lose the right to enter.

Tickets are released in batches covering several months at a time. The batch currently on sale went live on June 23, 2026 at noon and covers visits from September 1 to December 31, 2026. Later dates cannot be booked yet, and the museum has not yet announced when the tickets for 2027 will be released.

The museum’s own calendar sets booking windows to open in March, June, September and December, each one covering the months that follow. In practice the batches do not always match that calendar exactly, so the announcement on the official website is what counts.

Sold out for your dates? A further 215 tickets a day are released every Wednesday at noon (Rome time) for the following week, online only. It is the best second chance if the batch is already gone.

Keep a close eye on the release dates, as waiting until the last minute will likely result in no availability.

Free Admission on the First Sunday of the Month (#domenicalmuseo)

The Cenacolo Vinciano participates in the Italian Ministry of Culture’s initiative, offering free admission every first Sunday of the month. However, online reservations are required, and tickets are limited.

Free tickets for the first Sunday of the month can be reserved starting from the Wednesday before. Follow the link for normal ticket purchases to reserve your free ticket.

Note: These tickets sell out quickly, usually becoming available around noon (Rome time). Check early in the morning to avoid disappointment.

The Cenacolo Vinciano is open Tuesday through Sunday from 8:15 AM to 7:00 PM (last entry at 6:45 PM), with the box office open from 8:00 AM to 6:45 PM. It is closed on Mondays, on January 1 and on December 25.

Visits last a maximum of 15 minutes, in groups of up to 40 people at a time.
