Montblanc is set to join the prestigious lineup of brands in the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the elegant 19th-century shopping arcade at the heart of Milan. On April 9, 2025, the Municipality of Milan officially announced the allocation of a new retail space to the German luxury brand, following a public tender held in February.

A New Chapter for Milan’s Salotto
Often referred to as the “Salotto di Milano” (Milan’s Living Room), the Galleria is known for its refined ambiance and architectural splendor. Montblanc will become the 44th storefront gracing the Galleria’s ground level, joining other luxury labels behind the signature gold lettering on glossy black signage.

The new boutique will occupy part of the historic Rizzoli bookstore’s space, which has been present in the Galleria since 1949. Located on the ground floor and mezzanine level, the store will feature a direct entrance along the main axis between Piazza della Scala and the famous central octagon. The separation from the bookstore was approved by the Ministry of Culture in November 2024, as part of the bookstore’s renewed concession agreement.
A Long-Term Commitment in a Prime Location
Montblanc won the bid by offering an annual concession fee of €950,000 and presenting a detailed project that earned the highest possible score from the evaluation committee. The proposed design respects the monumentality of the Galleria while enhancing the overall shopping experience. The concession contract will last for 18 years, ensuring the brand’s long-term presence in one of the most prestigious retail addresses in Europe.
Currently, the Galleria hosts around fifty leaseholders, including those operating on upper floors, across approximately 40,000 square meters of leased space.
