Italy Time Change on October 25, 2026: The Time Difference from Milan to the US and UK

Calling home from Milan this week? The time difference is about to shift, and not just once.

Italy goes back to standard time on Sunday, October 25, 2026. The US follows a week later, on November 1. Between the two dates, Milan is one hour closer to American clocks than usual.

Time difference from Milan, week by week

Here is how many hours Milan is ahead of each city:

Milan vs.Until Oct. 24Oct. 25 to Oct. 31From Nov. 1
London1 hour1 hour1 hour
New York6 hours5 hours6 hours
Chicago7 hours6 hours7 hours
Los Angeles9 hours8 hours9 hours

The UK changes its clocks on the same night as Italy, so the gap with London does not move.

The US is different. According to NIST, daylight saving time in the United States ends on the first Sunday of November, which this year is November 1. Until then, noon in Milan is 7:00 a.m. in New York, not 6:00 a.m.

What happens on the night of October 24-25

At 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, clocks in Milan go back to 2:00 a.m. You get one extra hour of sleep.

The rule is the same across the European Union. Under EU Directive 2000/84/EC, summer time ends on the last Sunday of October and starts on the last Sunday of March. The next change is on March 28, 2027, when clocks go forward.

Smartphones update by themselves. The clock in your hotel room, a rental car or an old watch may not.

Flights from Malpensa and Linate on Sunday

Airline tickets and departure boards always use local time. A flight leaving Malpensa or Linate at 7:00 a.m. on October 25 leaves at 7:00 a.m. on the new clock.

Where the change can trip you up is a connection or a pickup booked before the switch: an airport transfer, a taxi or a friend waiting at arrivals. Confirm the time once more on Saturday evening.

Also count the hours if you are flying to the US that week. Your arrival time is printed in local time at the destination, so it already includes the one-hour shift.
