If you are in town for the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, there is an easy way to avoid the traffic and the parking hunt around the circuit: take the train. Between Friday 4 and Sunday 6 September 2026, Trenord is running special tickets and dozens of extra services between Milan and the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza.
The headline deal is a 5-euro return ticket for the non-stop trains connecting Milano Porta Garibaldi to Biassono-Lesmo Parco, the station closest to the circuit, on race day. Here is everything on offer, day by day.

What Trenord is running for the 2026 Italian Grand Prix
The Italian Grand Prix runs from 4 to 6 September 2026 at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, the circuit Italians call the Temple of Speed, just north of Milan. As it does every year, Trenord is strengthening its service across practice, qualifying and race day.
On all three days trains run with longer formations, meaning extra carriages on the regular services. On top of that there are extra trains on Saturday and Sunday, plus two special tickets that already include the return trip.
This is not a niche option: in 2025 alone, according to Trenord, 36,000 special GP tickets were sold.

The 5-euro ticket: 21 direct trains on race day
On Sunday 6 September, race day, Trenord runs 21 direct services between Milano Porta Garibaldi and Biassono-Lesmo Parco: 12 in the morning to get there and 9 in the afternoon for the way back.
These trains make no intermediate stops. To board them there is a dedicated 5-euro ticket, valid for the round trip and sold on giteintreno.trenord.it while seats last. Anyone holding the Trenord Day Pass (see below) can use these trains too.
One practical side effect is worth knowing: to make room for the direct services, the regular S7 line between Milan, Molteno and Lecco will be reorganised on Sunday 6. If you were counting on that line for something else that day, check the timetable before heading out.

Besides the race-day 5-euro fare, two tickets cover all three days of the event. All of them are sold on giteintreno.trenord.it, at ticket offices and at authorised sales points:

In practice, if you are staying in Milan and want the simplest door-to-gate route, the 10-euro ticket usually wins, because it already covers the shuttle bus at the end. If you are coming from another town in Lombardy, or travelling with a child under 14, the 13-euro Day Pass tends to work out better.
Extra trains and late service until 22:30 on Saturday and Sunday
On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6, Trenord adds eight extra services between Milano Centrale and Monza, four in each direction. Both special tickets are valid on them, and so are ordinary rail or integrated tickets and passes to and from Monza.
On those same two days the S7 line, which links Milano Porta Garibaldi to Biassono-Lesmo Parco, stays open later: evening service is extended until 22:30, with three additional runs, two towards Milan and one towards Triuggio.
That detail matters more than it looks. It is what lets you stay to the end of the race, or add one of the side events around the weekend, without worrying about missing the last train back to the city.

Which train lines take you close to the circuit
You do not have to catch one of the extra trains. On all three days of the event you can also reach the circuit on the scheduled services of these lines:
- S7 Milan, Molteno and Lecco
- S8 Milan, Carnate and Lecco
- S11 Milan and Como
- S9 Saronno, Seregno and Albairate
- R14 Milan, Carnate and Ponte San Pietro
- Regional service Milan, Lecco, Sondrio and Tirano
- RE80 Milan, Como and Lugano
Biassono-Lesmo Parco, on the S7, is the station closest to the circuit. If you get off at Monza instead, you still have a stretch to cover, and that is exactly what the Navetta Nera shuttle bus included in the 10-euro ticket is for: it drops you at Gate G.
Heads up: Trenord has also expanded its weekend services to Malpensa Airport, the lakes and the Ligurian coast, which is handy if you are building a longer trip around the race.
Race-day tips if you are staying in Milan
Three things solve most of the friction on the day. First, buy your ticket in advance: the 5-euro fare is sold while seats last, and queueing at the station on Sunday morning is not a plan.
Second, pick the ticket by your departure station, not by the price: starting from a Milan station, from Bergamo or from Como changes which option is worth it. Third, plan the way back, keeping in mind that the S7 runs until 22:30 on Saturday and Sunday.
